I never understood how anyone believed that Sartre and de Beauvoir’s ”essential love” managed to solve any of the problems of monogamy. Take away the philosophical veneer and their relationship was at least as conventionally dysfunctional and codependent as the average middle-class married couple in the 30s and 40s. And it was all kinds of other weird as well.

In other news, we now have a Facebook page. It. Is. Amazing.
